בעבודתו מציג דן דן שמעון בשי שיתוף פעולה בין הגברים למשפחת בשי, שכל אחד מהם משתמש ביכולותיו היצירתיות בעבודה משפחתית משותפת. במחשבה על השושלת הגברית הפרטית שלו, הבין בשי כי במשפחתו, לא רק שמות עוברים בירושה (כותרת העבודה מהדהדת את המנהג המשפחתי להעביר שמות אמצעיים בדילוגים דוריים, משמעון ליוסף, מיוסף לשמעון), אלא גם נטייה אמנותית ויד חופשית ביצירה. עבודת הרצפה שמציג בשי מדמה שטיח ביתי ורב־שכבתי, שבו כל רובד הוא מחווה ותרומה של בן משפחה שמגייס לטובתה את ההתמחות האמנותית הייחודית שלו. סבו של בשי נהג לטייל ברחבי הארץ ולצייר את נופיה, וכך השכבה הראשונה היא ציור בצבעי מים על בד במחווה ליצירותיו, המשמש כבסיס יציב שעליו בנו ויבנו יתר בני המשפחה. אביו של בשי, אדריכל במקצועו, שירטט על הבד המצויר אזורים שונים מבית ילדותו של האמן ויחד האב והבן גוזרים את החלקים השונים ומדביקים אותם על עץ לבוד, כשהם מעוררים את הזיכרון לחיים ומעניקים לו צורה תלת־ממדית. בשי עצמו החליט ליצור מסגרת ליצירה, כמטפורה לתפקיד שאותו הוא ממלא עבור משפחתו, בחיי היומיום וכן ביצירת העבודה הזו. בנו אריאל בן ה־3, הצעיר בשושלת, מקבל מאביו חופש ליצור ולבנות, לצבוע ולקשט במסגרת המבנה והבסיס שניסחו עבורו אבותיו. העבודה מנציחה את הגברים לשושלת בשי ומציבה את המחשבה היצירתית כירושה אינטימית הקושרת אותם יחדיו.
In his work, Dan Dan Shimon Bashi presents a collaboration between the men of the Bashi family, each of whom uses his creative abilities in a joint effort. Thinking about his patriarchal lineage, Bashi realized that in his family, not only are names inherited (the title of the work echoes the family custom of passing on middle names in generational leaps, from Shimon to Joseph, from Joseph to Shimon), an artistic inclination and a free creative hand seem to be inherited, too. The floor work that Bashi presents simulates a domestic, multi-layered carpet, in which each layer is a gesture and contribution of a family member who enlists his unique artistic expertise. Bashi’s grandfather used to travel around the country and paint its landscapes, so the first layer is a watercolor painting on canvas in an homage to his works, which served as a foundation on which the family continues to build. Bashi's father, an architect, drew various areas of his son’s childhood home on the painted canvas. Then together, the father and son cut and glue the pieces to plywood, bringing the memory to life and giving it a three-dimensional form. Bashi himself decided to create a frame for the work, as a metaphor for the role he plays for his family, both in everyday life and in this work’s creation. His 3-year-old son, Ariel, the youngest in the lineage, receives from his father the freedom to create, build, paint and decorate the structure and foundation that his ancestors formulated for him. The work immortalizes the men of the Bashi lineage and celerbates creative work as an intimate inheritance that binds them together.
